Joanne is a inspiring teacher and a successful freelance violinist who regularly performs with London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras. She has also appeared as guest sub-principal with the Halle in Manchester, RTE National Symphony (Radio Television Ireland) in Dublin, and the Ulster Orchestra (BBC) in Belfast. She was appointed co principal second violin with the Maryland Symphony in Baltimore USA in 2005 and lead the Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart in Amsterdam from 2002-04. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Joanne first began her musical training at age of 7 on piano and was accepted to Fu-Shing School of Music for talented children at age of 9. At age of 11 she moved to U.S.A. with her family and continued her musical study there. She had won several compeitions on violin, piano, and compositions including the MTNA competitions, the Eric Stein Young Artist competition, and the Hidden Glen Scholarship. Joanne decided to put all her focus on the violin at the start of music college at age of 18. Joanne received her Bachelore of Music degree from New England Conservatory in Boston and Post-graduate degree from Conservatory of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. In 2005, Joanne moved to London to complete her Masters degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is now married, and is a busy freelance violinist in London. Soon after moving to London, Joanne was appointed the violin teacher and strings coordinator at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick, and violin teacher in Highbury Grove School in Islington. She has successfully entered pupils through ABRSM exams. Having taught since age of 17, Joanne deeply believes that encouragement and decipline are the main keys to learning. She hopes to inspire all her pupils and help them to obtain focus and determination towards whatever they wish to achieve in their lives. |
